Distant Lighthouse

This is a night view from near where I live down to the bay. In the middle of the bay lies the small uninhabited Raftis island after which the whole bay and the seaside resort town of about 10,000 inhabitants takes its name, Porto Rafti. This place used to be my beloved summer holidays resort as a child and ended up being the location of my permanent residence today.

The Raftis island is like a cone-shaped hill that that's grown in the sea like many other Greek islets. On top of the hill there's a lighthouse comforting approaching seamen that are about to enter the safe waters of the protected bay, or otherwise waving Godspeed if the journey just begins.

There's something mystical about this scenery at moonlit peaceful nights, when the sea is still, no wind at all, the silence is dense, and far in the distance all you can see is the lighthouse sending its monotonous, yet so soul warming, signal.
