Lavrion.Attica.Greece

These pictures were taken in Lavrion, an important port in Attica that today handles ferry boat connections to the islands of the Aegean and also hosts yacht tourism in the local marinas. In the near past, thanks to its sea connections and rich soil in ores, Lavrion has been an important industrial site. At present days, the remainings of this activity add to the local touristic folklore, as the region has evolved to a weekend getaway for people who live in the greater Athens area. The photos are a bit nostalgic of its industrial past.
